How to become partner with LocalGuide

1. Choose the most appealing story of yours to illustrate your guided tour.

2. Prepare a short text (around 2-3 mins in length) and practice a bit to feel confident on camera.

3. Record a video of HD quality by yourself or contact one of our filming studios around the world.

4. Register online and accept the terms of service to gain access to your own personal page.

Which documents I need to sign and accept

Is it mandatory to have a video

Yes, it is. Videos are essential part of our offering and help you to get sales. Moreover, it’s quite easy to make a video with a good cellphone or to get our partner team film it for you at a moderate price.

What should be the language of my video

Please, make the presentation in the language on which you intend to provide a guided tour service. In some countries restriction do apply because you need to have a valid license to be guide.

How do I manage my orders

To manage your orders at LocalGuide you will need to:

  • Get an approval of our service moderator and receive your account credentials.
  • Have a valid PayPal account to receive the payments from customers
  • Create an offering that will be displayed on your personal page. The offer should contain all the essential terms applied to laws of customer protection
  • Confirm or cancel the upcoming applications for a tour in a timely manner.

After you have confirmed the availability for a tour, the money will be “pre-approved” on the customers card. This helps us secure your side of deal because free cancellation of the booking can be done only 7 days prior to the day of the tour.

What happens if I'm late for my tour

At the day of arrival we want you to confirm the meeting with your client. In order to do so we provide you with a free app which allows for making a check-in when both parties are at the meeting point.

In general both parties are allowed to be late for not more than 15 minutes after which two scenarios can take place:

  1. The tourist checks-in alone and declares a complaint which makes him eligible for a full refund.
  2. The guide checks-in and becomes eligible for a full payment for the tour. The guide has the right to offer the shortened tour or cancel the tour at all depending on the agreement made with the late person.

Please, note that we record absensy and cancellations and after making 3 “fouls” you membership on the platform wil be terminated.

How to select a guide

You are free to browse and watch videos from professional licensed guides. There’s a product filter form that can help you in being more precise. There’s a plenty of criteria to choose from: city, type of the object, keywords, gender and rating provided by customers.

How to make a secure payment

Our website is set to comply with highest security standards and uses SSL-encryption. We partner with reliable payment gateways, such as PayPal that are responsible for safety of your personal information.

When making a payment, you will be redirected to the page of the payment gateway and required to fill in necessary billing information.

Please, note that our Customer Support will never call you asking for your card details or any other private financial information.

Why use our free app

In order to provide you reliable and safe service we have created free mobile app which is compatible across multiple platforms. We strongly recommend to use the app, because:

  • it’s your way to get a customer receipt upon check-in on the day of guided tour – otherwise we can’t confirm that both parties have met and arrived in time;
  • it’s your way to provide feedback and rating upon completion of the guided tour;
  • it’s simply fun because you’re going to upload a selfie with very charismatic person from foreign country.

Thus, the app is your tool for fair conflict resolution if something happens. But we urge you to look at the bright side of it and it’s positive effect on your mood and travel album.

Can I make a free cancellation of my booking

When you apply for booking money on your card is “pre-approved” and you can cancel your booking for free 7 days prior to the date of the tour. If it’s less than 7 days you will be charged the penalty amount equaling to 30% of the price of the tour. If you don’t show up for a tour without any warning your card will be charged with full price of the tour.

How is my booking approved

Shortly after approval from the guide you will receive a confirmation email.

Later on you will need to download our free app to make a check-in on the day of the tour.

Then you can hit the road and enjoy your trip.
